MLB Division Race Predictions

With less than four weeks left in the Major League Baseball season the only thing that we can say for certain right now is that the Los Angeles Angels will win the AL West. Everything else is unsettled in what could be the most exciting finish we’ve had to a baseball season in a long time. Here’s what to look for.

Tampa Bay/Boston – The Rays lead the Red Sox by 4 games for first place in the AL East. The two teams have six games left in which they play each other. Boston has 14 home games remaining while Tampa Bay has only 9.
Prediction: Red Sox win the division.

Chicago White Sox/Minnesota – These two teams are deadlocked in the AL Central and will face each other three more times with all of those games being at Minnesota. The Sox have 13 home games left and the Twins have twelve. This is a race that I expect to come down to the final game of the season.
Prediction: White Sox win the division.

New York Mets/Philadelphia – The Mets are leading the NL East by 4 games with the Phillies just two games back. These two teams will hook up this weekend in New York for their final three games against each other. Philadelphia also has a four game set next week against Milwaukee who is fighting for the Central’s top spot against the Cubs who will be traveling to New York during the final week of play.
Prediction: The Mets hang on to win a very tight race.

Chicago Cubs/Milwaukee – The NL Central division will most likely come down to a three game set between these two teams in the final weekend of baseball. Right now they are separated by 4 games but the Brewers can cut into that when they travel to Chicago the 16th-18th.
Prediction: Cubs win on the very last day of the season to take the division.

Arizona/Los Angeles Dodgers – Separated by just 1 ½ games the Diamondbacks are setting uncomfortably at the top of the NL West. They’ll travel this weekend to LA to play the Dodgers and still have six games on the schedule against the Colorado Rockies who are only five games out.
Prediction: In a crazy finish the Rockies will go from third to first to win the division leaving the D-Backs and Dodgers on the outside looking in.
