New England’s Historical Day Shouldn’t Be Tainted

If it rains on New England’s history making parade it should be the result of the New York Giants pulling off a shocker and not because of week 1’s “Spygate” scandal. Should the Giants pull off the shocker New England’s 15-1 record and the plethora of records that are going to fall to this team are more than enough to permanently place this team in the record books. However, should the Patriots win and move to 16-0 they would possibly have in their possession the greatest achievement in NFL history.

Dallas Cowboys Could Let Division Rival In The Play-Offs

The Dallas Cowboys have the NFC’s #1 seed locked up for the play-offs but any realistic and honest fan would tell you that they don’t necessarily seem to be clicking the way they were mid-season. In their last two games quarterback Tony Romo has thrown four interceptions to only one touchdown and the offense has averaged 13 points. Obviously this isn’t the time to consider resting players its time to get some things worked out in the offense as Dallas travels to Washington to take on a Redskins team who is fighting for their own play-off lives.

Karma Catches Up With Boise State

The Boise State Broncos were college football’s story of the year last season following their upset win over the Oklahoma Sooners, who were the Big 12 conference champions, in the Fiesta Bowl. Never has a bigger underdog win on a bigger stage. Now, just eleven months later the Broncos are the upset victims after losing 41-38 to East Carolina.

Efficiently Light Your Wedding

The wedding season begins in May so that officially makes this the wedding planning season! A crucial part of an effective ceremony is the way you plan your wedding light. You want to get the right mixture of lighting so that people can see clearly but also dim enough to provide a romantic atmosphere.

You also want your lighting to be decorative and have a neat appearance that adds to the atmosphere rather than distracts from it. That is where the use of LED string or rope lighting becomes efficient and useful to wedding planners. LED lights use 80% less energy than standard incandescent lights which allow a user to connect up to 125 strings end to end with just on plug. Features like that allow for easier planning and a lot more flexibility to what you can do with your lighting. Add to the mix that LED lights come in various shapes and colors, along with their durability, then you have the perfect decoration items.

Free Moola!

If you are into addicting websites then you have to check this one out. I’ve been playing at Moola.com for about a month, since I saw it on another blog on Blog Explosion. I’ve not built up a lot of money in my account just yet but it is growing every day.

Basically all you have to do is play the games online against other Moola members. The more you win the higher up the ladder you can move. Obviously the higher up you are able to move the more money you are able to win.

Another way you can win money is by using their search engine. When you type in a search you are eligible to win an opportunity to spin the wheel. What ever amount the wheel stops on is the amount you win. So far I’ve received a free spin at least once every time I’ve used the search engine.

Moola.com is a free site that is both useful and entertaining but you can only join by the invitation of a member. Well, here is your invite! Just click on the link and then follow the instructions. Obviously I stand to gain by you signing up because of their outstanding referral program but, hey, if you sign up you can take advantage of it also. Before you know it you’ll be on your way to building up free moola!

The Christmas Shopping Nightmare

Someone please explain to me how people can wait until the very last minute to do their Christmas shopping and keep their sanity. I’m not saying that I’m one of those people who had everything wrapped up the day after Thanksgiving but I was done at least a week before Christmas.

Last night I had to go to the local retail store just to pick up a few things for around the house and it turned into a two hour trip. People were fighting over remaining items, every aisle was completely packed and the checkout lines were longer than the lines at Disney World.

I now realize the reason why stress goes up over the holidays. People max out their credit cards and look all over for cheap loans only in hopes of finding an item that millions of other people are in search of.

Catch Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd

When it comes to comparing and debating Johnny Depp’s best movie roles there certainly isn’t a lack of variety. Edward Scissorhands to Willy Wonka covers a lot of ground. However clearly and without question Depp’s best role on the big screen was that of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy.

From his almost feminine swagger when he walks to his uncanny whit and sarcasm throughout the trilogy Depp was the catalysts that made Pirates of the Caribbean the most sought after series since Star Wars. Captain Jack Sparrow is a free spirited pirate who is in search of the things he desires most. It the first movie it’s his ship, The Black Pearl, in the second it was Davey Jones’ heart and finally in the third movie it was his dignity and redemption.

Depp is looking to add to his cult icon status with his performance in Tim Burton’s newest film, Sweeney Todd. In the movie Sweeney Todd a.k.a Benjamin Barker returns to London after being sent away by Judge Turpin with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop where she sells "the worst pies in London." With the help of Mrs. Lovett, Todd tries to rid of all the people who have ever done him wrong and hopes to be reunited with his daughter.

Make sure to visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site for more details on the release of the movie. You can also visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace.

How Much Longer Should Bobby Bowden Run The Florida State Football Program?

Florida State’s football program has been on a consistent downward spiral since losing to Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl following the 2000 season. After word broke Tuesday of another scandal 2007 may be remembered as the year that the Seminoles hit rock bottom causing fans to wonder who is to blame for the team’s misfortune.

Steroid Confessions Are a Growing MLB Trend

When you’ve been caught with your hand in the cookie jar its best not to deny it. Last week’s release of the Mitchell Report put nearly 100 current and former major league baseball players under public scrutiny by linking them directly to steroid use.

While punishments are still being considered perhaps the harshest blows have already been dealt by the court of public opinion. Suddenly Roger Clemens is being mentioned in the same breath as Barry Bonds as the general public realizes that Jose Canseco wasn’t just blowing smoke.

NFL’s Most Impressive Week 15 Feat

As with any given weekend in the NFL there were several exciting plays and career milestones reached over week 15. For example, Brett Favre passed Dan Marino for the all-time career passing yards mark. The Miami Dolphins finally found a team that they could beat guarantying that we won’t see a 0-16 season. Fred Taylor ran for 147 yards against Pittsburgh’s #1 ranked defense. The New England Patriots clinched the AFC home field advantage for the playoffs.

Should Kentucky’s Billy Gillispie Put His House Up For Sale?

My very first post on this site was about the Kentucky Wildcats being upset by Gardner-Webb. As the college basketball season is unfolding its becoming clear that wasn’t a fluke.

After Saturday’s loss to UAB the Wildcats record stands at 4-4 and fans are beginning to squirm. Gillispie was booed in that first against Gardner-Webb and things haven’t really improved at all since then.

Will The Mitchell Report Ruin Baseball?

Former Senator George Mitchell will release his report to the world today and while everyone anxiously waits to see the names listed in the report there is a bigger issue at stake. What will the report do to the game of baseball?

While information released on Wednesday said that the report will name MVPs and All Stars as well as expose a "serious drug culture within baseball, from top to bottom,” but in reality it won’t tell us anything we didn’t already know. Do you really think you’ll see a name on the report that’ll make you say, “What, he was on roids? I had no idea!”? I mean seriously raise your hand if you had no idea that MLB players were taking steroids.

Miami Dolphins Sinking to New Lows

It’s become a common occurrence for the Miami Dolphins. Each week they do something though to be impossible, they look worse than they did the previous week. The disturbing pattern is unsettling to Miami fans, the team ownership and even the players who are rumored to be on the verge of a revolt against the coaching staff.

Heisman Hearts Will Be Broken!

The Heisman trophy will be given away Saturday night in New York City and while there are four candidates who believe they legitimately deserve the coveted trophy but three are going to be walking away empty handed and broken hearted. Here’s my breakdown of the candidates from least to most deserving.

Quarterback Chase Daniel (Jr.), Missouri Tigers

Reason For Being Invited
– Daniel led the Tigers to a 10-2 record and a Big 12 North title. He finished 5th in the nation in passing yards (4,170) and 6th in touchdowns (33). Chase Daniel averaged 320.8 passing yards per game with a 7.8 yard completion average.

Baltimore lost a heartbreaker Monday night to the New England Patriots but it would appear, from a Ravens perspective, that Tom Brady and crew had some help from the officials.

BlogPoll Ballot – Does Anyone Want to Be #1

As this crazy college football season winds down I can honestly say that there is no definitive #1 team in the nation. The Missouri Tigers are the flavor of the week this week but that could very well change Saturday night in San Antonio. Meanwhile the Hawaii Warriors can become the only team in the nation to finish the regular season unblemished with a win over the Washington Huskies on Saturday but no sane person would put them at the nation’s top team. I’ll be criticized for having them at #3.

Here’s How I’m Voting the Top 25 This Week.

The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution

How Amazing Would a College Football Playoff Be Now?

I am so sick of hearing network announcers say that if anything this season has proven that we don’t need a playoff because the season is a playoff. If that’s true then who won? Hawaii? The warriors are the only undefeated team left but they won’t sniff the BCS title game. What if they lose to Washington this week? They’ll drop like a rock while teams like Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma remained in the top 10 even after their second losses.

Oklahoma and Oregon Have Title Hopes Crushed by Quarterback Injuries

Dennis Dixon and Sam Bradford were two of the most prolific passers on two of the most prolific offenses in the country. They were, in essence, what made things click when their teams had the ball. Remove them from the equation and their offenses suddenly become very average. Oregon and Oklahoma had to learn that lesson the hard way this week as they watched their BCS title hopes vanish on the road at Arizona and Texas Tech respectively.

Stanford Cardinal Upset by Siena

The Siena Saints went into Saturday’s game against Stanford with a 1-2 record. With losses to James Madison and Syracuse the Saints shouldn’t have been much of a threat to 20th ranked, unbeaten, Stanford whose narrowest margin of victory this season was 11 points over Northwestern. Big 12 Falls Victim to College Basketball Upsets

The NCAA football season began with a monster upset that began a trend of seeing lesser teams beat their favored opponents each weekend. It now appears that the NCAA basketball season is taking the same course and no team is safe.

Top ranked North Carolina barely survived Davidson and #15 Texas A&M escaped the clutches of the UTEP Miners 81-76 Wednesday night but it was definitely a night for the mid-major conferences to shine with the Big 12 playing the role of the victim.

Websites that Build Community

Online communities are popping up all over the internet and while some are better than others there are so many out there that deserve a good look. Some online communities cater to one specific genre, like we here at My Opinion on Sports do for the sports community, while others target a more diverse audience by catering to many different areas of interest.

The iContact community is open to people to connect on numerous topics. Since I’m a sports nut I thought that I’d check out there sports entries. I was disappointed to find that the latest entry was dated November 11th and was nothing more than an advertisement for NC State book stores. Since I live in Oklahoma and have absolutely no interest in the NC State book store I didn’t stay very long.

However there maybe something there for you! You may like NC State or you could possibly be interested in one of their other 18 topics. You’ll never know if you don’t give it a look.

Blog Poll Ballot

I still believe that the Hawaii Warriors are one of the top 5 teams in the country but Ohio State’s loss to Illinois somewhat called my bluff and I couldn’t justify moving them up to #2. Instead I dropped the team that has the nation’s highest scoring offense to #4.

With so many teams having only one loss the BCS mess is in full stride as people defend their team while tearing down others in the race to New Orleans. Here’s how I stack’em up.

San Diego Charging Nowhere

The San Diego Chargers are in sole possession of first place in the AFC West but with a 5-4 record it may be a testament to the sad state of the division instead of the quality of the team.

After Sunday night’s victory over the Indianapolis Colts Chargers All-Pro running back LaDainian Tomlinson said, “"The way we're going, we're not going to be able to beat the elite teams in the league. I mean, we beat one tonight, and we're happy. But it has to get better."

How It’s Supposed to Work

I launched My Opinion on Sports in April of 2005 to give sports fans a platform to share their opinions on the things that they love and hate in the world of sports. Since then we’ve expanded to sport specific blogs that cover the NFL, MLB, NCAA football, NASCAR, and most recently NCAA basketball. We try our best to crank out at least one post a week on each blog and comments are not only welcome but encouraged.

We’ve even put up a message board where you, the sports fan, can post your own thoughts on the topics you are interested in that we’re not talking about yet.

So, if you’ve got an opinion we want to hear it! Write something up for one of the blogs and submit it to me. Start a thread on the message board or just share a comment on one of the posts. This is your site for your opinions. You know that you’ve got one so why not share it with us?

All of blogs are designed to be fan driven. You're the fan so drive them!

Use the Winter to Stock Up on Golf Balls

Winter time is upon us and its time to put the golf clubs up for a couple of months. When you get them back out in the spring you’re going to realize just how many golf balls you’ve lost and then pay top dollar at the club house for a few new sleeves.

You don’t have to break the bank on new golf balls though if you use golfballsandaccessories.com. There you’ll find used golf balls for less than half the price of new ones. Quality used golf balls hit just as well as new ones and quality is what you’ll find in many different brand name golf balls.

Heading into the locker room with a 38-27 deficit to Gardner-Webb the home crowd booed his team.
