Moreno Leaps to the front of the pack after last week's performance
West Virginia’s Pat White took a huge hit in his Heisman campaign with the 24-3 loss at East Carolina. White rushed for 97 yards in the game but only passed for 72 and didn’t account for any scores. Also, gone from my list this week is Ohio State’s Beanie Wells. Not because of a bad performance but because of no performance. Wells set out last week with a foot injury and it appears that he’ll be out for this weekend’s USC game. Its hard to put up Heisman numbers from the sideline.
Making my list this week is Georgia’s Knowshon Moreno. Not only did he make the list but his performance last weekend against Central Michigan puts him at the top. Here’s how I rank the Heisman Contenders to this point.
1. Knowshon Moreno, RB Georgia – 18 carries, 168 yards, 3 touchdowns, 3 receptions for 30 yards. Season Stats: 26 carries, 227 yards, 6 touchdowns, 5 receptions, 83 yards.
2. Sam Bradford, QB Oklahoma – 29-38, 395 yards, 5 touchdowns, 2 interceptions. Season Stats: 46-60, 578 yards, 7 touchdowns, 2 interceptions.
3. Tim Tebow, QB Florida – 21-35, 256 yards, 2 touchdowns, 13 carries 55 yards. Season Stats: 30-49, 393 yards, 3 touchdowns, 22 carries, 90 yards.
4. Chase Daniel, QB Missouri – 16-17, 245 yards, 3 touchdowns. Season Stats: 42-62, 568 yards, 6 touchdowns, 1 interception, 9 carries, 46 yards.
