Sooners Lead Big 12 in Players Drafted for 2nd Year

Eleven Big 12 Schools had a total of 29 players selected in the NFL draft but Oklahoma and Texas led the way with six players from each school selected. The Sooners led conference with five players taken on the first day. Texas had four players taken on day one.

This is the second year in a row that OU has led the Big 12 in draft picks. Since Oklahoma and Texas tied with the same number of players selected here are a few ironic things to think about concerning Sooners and Longhorns in the NFL.

Vince Young will now be throwing the ball to Brandon Jones.
Chris Simms will be protected by Davin Joseph.
Cedric Benson will have JD Runnels for a lead blocker.

Here is the breakdown of the number of players taken from each school.
Oklahoma 6
Texas 6
Colorado 4
Nebraska 4
Missouri 2
Texas A&M 2
Baylor 1
Iowa State 1
Kansas State 1
