Cowboys Sweep Sooners in Bedlam Baseball Series

Maybe the Sooners peaked too early in the season. Maybe the Cowboys are peaking at just the right time of the season. Whatever the reason it made for some bad Bedlam baseball as the Cowboys outscored the Sooners 15-2 in a three game sweep.

OU had no offensive answer against the Cowboys pitchers. “They did a good job pitching. Good pitching is going to get good hitting out,” said Sooner head coach Sunny Golloway.

Sunday’s loss marked the first Bedlam sweep by the Cowboys since 2001 and the first time Oklahoma has been shutout in back to back games since losing 4-0 and 2-0 to No. 1 Texas in games one and two of the 2005 series in Austin.

“Oklahoma State played terrific this weekend and you can’t take anything away from them,” Golloway said. “Good baseball is good baseball and they played good baseball.”

The good news in all of this is that Nebraska was swept by Baylor over the weekend which puts four teams within reach of second place in the conference going into the final weekend of regular season play. Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are all within three games of each other.

Baylor plays at Kansas State and Oklahoma goes to Nebraska while the Cowboys finish at home against Texas Tech. Should be a fun final weekend!
