Big 12 Football Power Rankings

Two weeks into conference play here is how I rank the Big 12 teams from best to worst.

1. Texas 5-1, 2-0 - A 28-10 pasting of the Sooners solidified the Longhorns position as the best team in the conference.
Potentially Dangerous Games: October 21st at Nebraska.
2. Missouri 6-0, 2-0 – The resurgent Tigers are suddenly the favorite to win the North.
Potentially Dangerous Games: October 28th Oklahoma, November 4th at Nebraska.
3. Nebraska 5-1, 2-0 – After surviving a scare from Kansas the Huskers got back on solid footing with a win over Iowa State.
Potentially Dangerous Games: October 21st Texas, November 4th Missouri.
4. Oklahoma 3-2, 0-1 – The Sooners started conference play off on the wrong foot by falling to Texas but they have a great chance to rebound this week hosting Iowa State.
Potentially Dangerous Games: October 28th at Missouri, November 25th at Oklahoma State.
5. Texas Tech 4-2, 1-1 – The Red Raiders are pretty good as long as they aren’t playing a defense with speed. Unfortunately they still have Oklahoma and Texas on their schedule.
Potentially Dangerous Games: October 28th Texas, November 11 at Oklahoma.
6. Baylor 3-3, 2-0 – The Bears are surprisingly undefeated in conference play but will go up against the Longhorns this weekend.
Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game left on the schedule.
7. Texas A&M 5-1, 1-1 – Every game from here out is crucial to the Aggies and coach Fran. To this point they have a close win and a close loss under their belts.
Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game left on the schedule.
8. Kansas State 4-2, 1-1 – A last second win over Oklahoma State kept the Wildcats from being near the bottom of the list.
Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game but Colorado (November 4th)
9. Iowa State 3-3, 0-2 – My pick to win the north has taken a dive so far and a loss at Oklahoma this Saturday would be a crushing blow.
Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game but Colorado (November 11th)
10. Kansas 3-3, 0-2 – The Jayhawks have gotten off to a bad start but have the most potential of moving up from the bottom three.
Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game but Colorado (October 28th)
11. Oklahoma State 3-2, 0-1 – Riding a two game losing streak it appears to be a “same song different verse” scenario in Stillwater.
Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game left on the schedule.
12. Colorado 0-6, 0-2 – Welcome to the Big 12 Mr. Hawkins! It’s not as easy as it was on the blue turf.
Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game left on the schedule.
