The Hornets trailed 49-38 at halftime. Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan combined to score San Antonio's first 11 points of the third quarter, pushing the Spurs lead to 60-42.
With reserves on the court for both teams, the Hornets cut the deficit to 90-86 with just over 3 minutes remaining but got no closer.
Maciej Lampe led the Hornets with 23 points and Rasual Butler added 12.
The Hornets fall to 1-3 in the pre-season with this loss. They play next in Oklahoma City, Sunday night, against the Denver Nuggets, the one team they have beaten.
