Ronnie Brown has a new lead blocker and a very good one at that! The Miami Dolphins signed fullback Fred Beasley to a one year contract yesterday bring an all-purpose back who is a punishing blocker into their backfield.
In his NFL career Beasley has served as the lead blocker for three different 1,000-yard rushers. In his eight previous NFL seasons Fred Beasley, a 6-0, 245-pounder has appeared in 114 regular season games, including 82 starts. He has rushed for 610 yards and eight touchdowns on 183 carries, and caught 133 passes for 1,017 yards and five touchdowns. He was selected as the NFC’s Pro Bowl fullback in 2003 when he led a 49ers rushing attack that amassed 2,279 yards and a 4.6-yard average per attempt, as the unit ranked fifth in the NFL in rushing offense.
