Bookout and Carter Named Academic All-Big 12

OU’s Kevin Bookout and Nate Carter were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Men's Basketball First Team.

It is the second consecutive time Bookout has made the team and the first time in as many years for Carter.

Bookout, a senior is majoring in human relations, is averaging 11.2 points and 7.0 rebounds this year while shooting .563 from the field. Carter (pictured left), a junior who transferred to OU after spending two seasons at UC Riverside, contributes 6.4 points and 3.4 boards a game while shooting .486 from the field and .804 from the free throw line.

Academic All-Big 12 First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

In addition to the conference honor Bookout (right) was also named an ESPN The Magazine Third-Team Academic All-American on Wednesday. Bookout became the first OU men’s basketball player since Terry Stotts in 1980 to be honored as an Academic All-American.
