Big 12 Football Power Rankings

1. Oklahoma 8-2, 5-1 – The Sooners have been knocking on the door for a few weeks now. Thanks to their five game winning streak and Kansas States upset over Texas Oklahoma is now the hottest team in the Big 12. Potentially Dangerous Games: November 25th at Oklahoma State. Last Week’s Ranking #2

2. Texas 9-2, 6-1 – The reign of the Longhorns has come to an end! Before the protests begin let me remind you that the power rankings are based on how a team is playing from week to week. Coming off of a loss to an unranked team there is no way Texas can remain #1. Potentially Dangerous Games: November 24 Texas A&M. Last Week’s Ranking #1

3. Nebraska 8-3, 5-2 – A come from behind win in College Station gave the Huskers the Big 12 North crown and moved them up another spot in the rankings. Potentially Dangerous Games: None! Last Week’s Ranking #4

4. Kansas State 7-4, 4-3 – The Wildcats got their marquee win Saturday night when they knocked off the defending national champion Texas Longhorns. The need to be guarded against a let down this week when they visit Kansas. Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game left on the schedule. Last Week’s Ranking #7

5. Missouri 7-3, 3-3 – The Tigers hold tight at number 5 after the bye week. A dead Iowa State team is next for the Tigers and then it’s on to the border war against suddenly resergent Kansas. Potentially Dangerous Games: November 25th Kansas. Last Week's Ranking #5

6. Oklahoma State 6-4, 3-3 – Pasting Baylor got the Cowboys bowl eligible but it really wasn’t a good mark of weekly progress. Posting huge numbers on the Bears has been the norm the past few weeks for Big 12 schools. Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game left on the schedule. Last Week’s Ranking #8

7. Texas Tech 6-5, 3-4 – Is it possible the Red Raiders could finish with a losing conference record? Tech faces Oklahoma State Saturday to end their season. Potentially Dangerous Games: November 18th Oklahoma State. Last Week’s Ranking #6

8. Texas A&M 8-3, 4-3 – The season is quickly getting away from coach Fran and possibly so is his team. Unless they can pull it together and upset Texas on the 24th there may be a serious push to have a new coach in College Station next season. Potentially Dangerous Games: November 24th at Texas. Last Week’s Ranking #3

9. Kansas 5-5, 2-4 – The Jayhawks have won two in a row and had the week off to prepare for Kansas State. One win in their last two games will make Kansas bowl eligible for the second year in a row. Potentially Dangerous Games: Every game left on the schedule. Last Week’s Ranking # 9

10. Colorado 2-9, 2-5 – If you are looking for positives in Boulder consider the fact that the Buffaloes haven’t quit on the season. I don’t think you can say the same for the two last place teams. Potentially Dangerous Games: November 24th at Nebraska. Last Week’s Ranking #11

11. Baylor 4-7, 3-4 – Bowl hopes have ended in Waco leaving the Bears to play for pride now. Unfortunately they don’t seem to have much of that left either. Potentially Dangerous Games:November 18th Oklahoma. Last Week’s Ranking #10

12. Iowa State 3-8, 0-7 – McCarney is a lame duck coach and you get the feeling that the Cyclones are just going through the motions in order to get the season over. Potentially Dangerous Games: November 18th Missouri. Last Week’s Ranking #12
