Former Florida State Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward is voting for Texas QB Vince Young in this year's Heisman Trophy balloting. Ward explained that it's not the statistics that matter most in his eyes, but what a single player brings to his team.
"I don't base mine on stats, who has the most yards and all that, more so on who's more valuable to their team," Ward said. That sounded as Ward might be partial to a leadership-oriented, whatever-it-takes quarterback such as himself — or perhaps Texas' Vince Young. "I'm not partial to anyone," Ward said. "Even though I know Vince, that doesn't mean I'm going to vote for him just because I know him. I'm going to vote for him for what he does for his team. I made my decision based on if you took them off their squad, what would they have."
