Some Thoughts

Alabama – The Tide keep flirting with disaster but continue coming up with the plays needed to keep the undefeated season alive.

Texas Tech – The Red Raiders are just one more hurdle away from being the class of the Big 12 Conference.

Florida – Urban Myer is two wins away from having his Gators back in the BCS Championship.

Texas – The Longhorns were a bit lethargic in their win over Baylor.

Oklahoma – The Sooners could cause mass confusion in the Big 12 with a win over Texas Tech on the 22nd.

USC – Did anyone else have trouble staying awake through the USC/Cal game?

Boise State – How much would you pay to see a Broncos/Sooners rematch in the Fiesta Bowl?

Utah – The Utes lucked out against TCU when the Frogs couldn’t hit a field goal but to their credit they did survive and remain undefeated.

Penn State – The Lions made a good run but now they are in the same boat as USC. After suffering a loss to an unranked team they shouldn’t be considered any longer for the BCS championship. Instead let them begin thinking about playing the Trojans in the Rose Bowl.

Oklahoma State – The Cowboys were run off the field in Lubbock Saturday night showing that, while close, they aren’t yet on the same level as the Big 12’s Big 3.

Georgia – The Bulldogs just did enough to survive Kentucky.

Ohio State – The Buckeyes bounced back from a loss to Penn State by pounding Northwestern 45-10.

Ball State – After a 45-10 win over Northern Illinois the Cardinals are 9-0 but clearly behind Boise State and Utah in the BCS Buster race.

Missouri – At least the Tigers can take pride in being the best team in the Big 12 North.

BYU – The Cougars can still be party crashers for Utah in two weeks.

Michigan State – Thanks to Penn State’s loss to Iowa the Spartans are back in the hunt for the Big 10 Championship.

TCU – The inability to kick a field goal doesn’t make you a bad team (see Oklahoma) but when it finally costs you a game you suffer in the rankings.

LSU – A quarterback! If only Les Miles had a quarterback.

North Carolina – The rumor mill is swirling about where Butch Davis might be next year.

Tulsa – IDLE

Pittsburgh – The Panthers are in the driver’s seat for the Big East Championship.

Cincinnati – You have to wonder what the Bearcats could have done had they not had the quarterback injuries this year.

South Carolina – Steve Spurrier takes a trip back to the Swamp this weekend.

Wake Forest – The Deacons are sitting on top of the ACC’s Atlantic Division.

Florida State – The Seminoles are working their way back to prominence in the ACC. They hold they ACC’s Atlantic Division’s top spot.
