Dolphins' Training Camp Quotes

Safety Yeremiah Bell on the importance of communication between defensive backs – “Communication is very important. It tells us which side we have safety rotation to, if we have a blitz, what side it’s coming from, so we have to be talking constantly at all times. If not, then we can have a breakdown in the back end. We’re the last line of defense and you never want that.”

Defensive Tackle Vonnie Holliday on if he sees a different mindset this training camp – “It’s different. Last year, Coach Saban coming in with his new staff, a lot of new players, the mindset was totally different. It was kind of scattered a little bit. This year, guys know what our plan is and, for the most part, our offensive and defensive schemes. Guys are focused and guys know that we have an opportunity. It’s great bringing Daunte (Culpepper) in here, and other key acquisitions in the offseason. The sky is the limit for us. Last year we talked about it, but this year really looks like we’re kind of poised and sitting right on the edge of doing something great.”

Defensive Tackle Vonnie Holliday on if he thinks the defensive players are able to react more and think less about the scheme this year – “Definitely. I was just talking to a young guy, Matt Roth, a guy who said last year coming in, he was just mentally always worried about messing up and worrying about where he fit in the scheme. This year he knows the scheme. It’s just going out and reacting in it. You see it, certainly from a defensive standpoint, when we go out and watch the film. Guys are just reacting and making plays and, offensively, we’re coming.”

Wide Receiver Marty Booker on the transition of working with a new quarterback like Daunte Culpepper – “I don’t think it will be that bad. We’ve been working in the O.T.A.’s, having him out there, running around and throwing, and working on timing stuff. Plus, you have Joey (Harrington) backing up and we’ve been working on timing stuff with him. I think we’re coming along pretty smoothly. The main thing is to build on what we have and keep on going up, get some games under out belt and I think we’ll be alright.”

Center Rex Hadnot on the offensive line – “I think we have a lot of stability. I wouldn’t say that there has been, especially this past offseason, tremendous change. We all have gotten a chance to really jell. I really think this year, especially early on, people will get a chance to see exactly how good we are up front. I’m excited about that. The guys on the o-line are excited about that. We’ve got to get better every practice and it’ll take care of itself.”

Center Rex Hadnot on RB Ronnie Brown having more of a workload this season – “I think that Ronnie’s looking forward to this challenge. I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be able to do it. As long as we’re doing our job up front, then we can make his job easier. I wouldn’t say the pressure’s on him. I would put the pressure on the o-line.”
