Roger Clemens was the keynote speaker for the St. John's winter baseball banquet on Wednesday and the seven-time Cy Young winner made a confession.
"I'm failing at retirement," he said. "Let's just face it. I'm failing miserably at it."
Roger Clemens wants to pitch again. He wants to pitch so badly that he went out on Monday and Tuesday just to pitch batting practice for Houston’s minor leaguers. The Rocket showed that he is still capable bringing the heat last season when he posted a 2.30 ERA in 19 starts.
We haven’t seen Clemens on the mound for the last time. He’ll appear in Boston, Houston or New York in late May or early June. It just depends which one gets off to the best start and is willing to pony up $25 million dollars for a guy who won’t travel with the team until the play-offs.
