Oklahoma and Oregon Have Title Hopes Crushed by Quarterback Injuries
Dennis Dixon and Sam Bradford were two of the most prolific passers on two of the most prolific offenses in the country. They were, in essence, what made things click when their teams had the ball. Remove them from the equation and their offenses suddenly become very average. Oregon and Oklahoma had to learn that lesson the hard way this week as they watched their BCS title hopes vanish on the road at Arizona and Texas Tech respectively.

Stanford Cardinal Upset by Siena
The Siena Saints went into Saturday’s game against Stanford with a 1-2 record. With losses to James Madison and Syracuse the Saints shouldn’t have been much of a threat to 20th ranked, unbeaten, Stanford whose narrowest margin of victory this season was 11 points over Northwestern. Or so we thought!

Big 12 Falls Victim to College Basketball Upsets
Top ranked North Carolina barely survived Davidson and #15 Texas A&M escaped the clutches of the UTEP Miners 81-76 Wednesday night but it was definitely a night for the mid-major conferences to shine with the Big 12 playing the role of the victim.
Websites that Build Community
Online communities are popping up all over the internet and while some are better than others there are so many out there that deserve a good look. Some online communities cater to one specific genre, like we here at My Opinion on Sports do for the sports community, while others target a more diverse audience by catering to many different areas of interest.
The iContact community is open to people to connect on numerous topics. Since I’m a sports nut I thought that I’d check out there sports entries. I was disappointed to find that the latest entry was dated November 11th and was nothing more than an advertisement for NC State book stores. Since I live in Oklahoma and have absolutely no interest in the NC State book store I didn’t stay very long.
However there maybe something there for you! You may like NC State or you could possibly be interested in one of their other 18 topics. You’ll never know if you don’t give it a look.

Blog Poll Ballot
I still believe that the Hawaii Warriors are one of the top 5 teams in the country but Ohio State’s loss to Illinois somewhat called my bluff and I couldn’t justify moving them up to #2. Instead I dropped the team that has the nation’s highest scoring offense to #4.
With so many teams having only one loss the BCS mess is in full stride as people defend their team while tearing down others in the race to New Orleans. Here’s how I stack’em up.

San Diego Charging Nowhere
The San Diego Chargers are in sole possession of first place in the AFC West but with a 5-4 record it may be a testament to the sad state of the division instead of the quality of the team.
After Sunday night’s victory over the Indianapolis Colts Chargers All-Pro running back LaDainian Tomlinson said, “"The way we're going, we're not going to be able to beat the elite teams in the league. I mean, we beat one tonight, and we're happy. But it has to get better."

How It’s Supposed to Work
I launched My Opinion on Sports in April of 2005 to give sports fans a platform to share their opinions on the things that they love and hate in the world of sports. Since then we’ve expanded to sport specific blogs that cover the NFL, MLB, NCAA football, NASCAR, and most recently NCAA basketball. We try our best to crank out at least one post a week on each blog and comments are not only welcome but encouraged.
We’ve even put up a message board where you, the sports fan, can post your own thoughts on the topics you are interested in that we’re not talking about yet.
So, if you’ve got an opinion we want to hear it! Write something up for one of the blogs and submit it to me. Start a thread on the message board or just share a comment on one of the posts. This is your site for your opinions. You know that you’ve got one so why not share it with us?
All of blogs are designed to be fan driven. You're the fan so drive them!

Use the Winter to Stock Up on Golf Balls
Winter time is upon us and its time to put the golf clubs up for a couple of months. When you get them back out in the spring you’re going to realize just how many golf balls you’ve lost and then pay top dollar at the club house for a few new sleeves.
You don’t have to break the bank on new golf balls though if you use golfballsandaccessories.com. There you’ll find used golf balls for less than half the price of new ones. Quality used golf balls hit just as well as new ones and quality is what you’ll find in many different brand name golf balls.
Kentucky Wildcats – College Basketball’s First Victim
Billy Gillispie turned Texas A&M into a national power in basketball before bolting to Lexington to take over Division I’s most winning college basketball team. In just is second game as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats Gillispie experienced something that was totally unique to him. Heading into the locker room with a 38-27 deficit to Gardner-Webb the home crowd booed his team.

Red Sox to Have Six Man Rotation?
When you have a pitching rotation of Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Tim Wakefield, Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz how do you decide who to take out and make a middle reliever? Apparently you don’t! According to a report the Boston Red Sox are considering a six man rotation for the 2008 baseball season.

Television Shopping Made Easy
Hard earned dollars aren’t easy to come by (that’s why they’re called hard earned) so they shouldn’t be easy to let go. When we are looking to spend our money on luxury items we want to make sure that we learn all that we can about the product that we are purchasing and then get the absolute best deal on that item.
Thanks to the power of the internet there isn’t anything that we can’t quickly look up with a few key words typed into a search engine. The days of window shopping are behind us because now all of the product information that we may seek can be found online. But what if you could find a site that not only gave you all of the product information you were looking for on electronic devices, like a samsung 40 inch LCD television, and then told you the closest location where that product could be purchased, the price at that store, and if they had it in stock or not. Krillion.com is going to quickly become the consumer’s best friend.
BlogPoll Ballot, Back to Normal
Number two Boston College was upset this week at home by Florida State and in a testament of how this season has gone it returns the college football world back to normal.
Three teams dropped out of my top 25 this week, South Carolina (#20), Wake Forest (#24), South Florida (#25) and I decided to give credit to the accomplishments of Cincinnati, Virginia and Boise State by adding them.
Finally, yes I do believe that Hawaii deserves to be ranked that high.
Rank | Team | Delta |
---|---|---|
1 | Ohio State | -- |
2 | Oregon | 1 |
3 | Hawaii | 1 |
4 | Oklahoma | 1 |
5 | LSU | 1 |
Don Shula Has a Point
I don’t care if you love him, hate him, or stand somewhere in the middle Don Shula has a point. A cheat is a cheat and that’s exactly what the New England Patriots are. Sure they were caught and punished but are we naïve enough to think they have stopped? Get this straight. Bill Belichick is arrogant and brash and doesn’t care what anyone says including NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. He found a way once and you can guarantee that he’ll find a way again.
"The Spygate thing has diminished what they've accomplished," Shula told the New York Daily News. "You would hate to have that attached to your accomplishments. They've got it."
An Effective Solution to Sensitive Teeth
Anyone who has suffered from sensitive teeth can understand the pain and frustration from trying to eat cold foods like ice cream or drink hot drinks like coffee, hot chocolate or tea.
In past experiences I’ve dealt with my own sensitive teeth problems with numbing gels that make my entire mouth go numb and leaves a horrible after taste. That’s a lot of trouble for just a few minutes of relief but I didn’t know of another solution until now.
Biotene is a new product that provides lasting relief as well as acts as a long term solution to the sensitive teeth problem. After using it for only a few days I have noticed a significant difference in the way my teeth feel. I’m able to drink iced tea with no complications or pain and last night I even ate a bowl of ice cream.
Unlike other sensitive toothpaste products Biotene doesn’t mask the problem but rather provides a solution for tooth sensitivity by fighting dry mouth. Biotene's advanced Enzyme LP3 Complex provides relief for dry mouth which eliminates many of the factors that lead to bleeding gums and sensitive teeth.
Since I began using Biotene twice daily my mouth has not only felt moist and fresh by my sensitivity to cold products has decreased greatly.

BCS Rankings in Review
With only four Saturdays left in the 2007 college football season we can now look at the BCS Standings and try to make some sense of it. While I will always maintain that the current BCS formula is a mess I do believe that no one is a shoe in and there are seven teams who have a legitimate chance of playing in New Orleans. Here’s a look.
1. Ohio State (.9900) – The Buckeyes should be in the driver’s seat. They only have two games remaining on their regular season schedule and won’t have to play a conference championship game. If OSU avoids a possible trap game this weekend against Illinois and then survives a trip to the Big House then they would have earned the right to play for the BCS Championship.

Won, and Done
Another college football weekend left us with more teams eliminated from the BCS race while others continued on in the quest for an invite to New Orleans. Here’s the rundown of who won and who is done.
Won
Boston College – The Eagles pulled out some very last minute heroics to escape Virginia Tech with an unblemished record. A win is a win and B.C. now stands at 8-0.

Bruton Smith’s Ideas for an Improved NASCAR
Bruton Smith has been thinking intently about the sport of NASCAR and now wants to have extensive talks with NASCAR’s top executives about improving the sport’s image and level of competition.
Who is Bruton Smith you ask? He’s the founder of Speedway Motorsports, Inc., which owns six NASCAR tracks that host 11 NASCAR events. His philosophy is this. Winners don’t get paid enough, losers get paid too much and drivers should be fined less for emotional outbursts.

The $1,000,000 Flooring Warranty
iFLOOR, America's largest online flooring retailer, today announced a $1,000,000 limited warranty designed to protect its customers from predatory manufacturer policies that exclude warranty coverage from online purchases.
The policy, which goes into effect immediately, offers up to one million dollars of coverage in the event that a customer's warranty claim is denied specifically because they made their purchase online. It is complimentary for every iFLOOR customer, and protects the buyer under the same terms as the original product warranty.
iFLOOR, Inc. CEO, Steve Simonson, came up with the program to combat "scare tactics" used by manufacturers of hardwood floors and laminate flooring. "Their idea is to discourage you from buying at a discount!" wrote Simonson in his blog "It's About Flooring". "This is not right! You deserve to save money! So we're going to take care of this problem once and for all."
And it would appear that federal law is on his side. Section 108 of the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Act, states that, "In general, tie-in sales provisions are not allowed. Such a provision would require a purchaser of the warranted product to buy an item or service from a particular company to use with the warranted product in order to be eligible to receive a remedy under the warranty."
Under iFLOOR's new warranty, a key provision allows for iFLOOR to "seek justice" on behalf of the customer in the event of legal action. According to Simonson, "I'm putting iFLOOR's money where my mouth is."
