Angels/Red Sox Preview

The Boston Red Sox held off the New York Yankees to capture the AL East title while the Angels won the West fairly comfortably. My personal opinion is that these are the best two teams in the American League and I’m picking the winner to represent the AL in the playoffs.

Offense
I really like Chone Figgins, Orlando Cabrera and Vladimir Guerrero’s ability to get on base by putting the ball in play. However, the problem with just getting on base is leaving runners stranded. Boston on the other had has the explosive power to put the ball over the fence (or monster) at several spots in their lineup. The Red Sox combined 166 homeruns led to a total of 867 team runs.
