Is It Over?
The Seattle Mariners have already given me more than I had ever expected before the season even began but now they’re killing me. Needing to sweep the Texas Rangers they lost the final two games of the series. I was afraid that losing those two games would come back to haunt them and now fresh off of getting swept by the Angels the Mariners have now lost five in a row and face a five game deficit in the AL West. On top of that the New York Yankees have won two in a row over Boston which puts them in a two way tie with the Mariners in the Wild Card.

My Opinion on Sports Forum Day
We’re looking for some great sports conversations! Sure things on the sports scene have been slow lately but the baseball playoffs are just around the corner and football is about to move into full swing, both college and pro.
While there are tons of people out there who love talking sports, I’m one of them, there aren’t quite as many places to go for quality sports conversations and a little smack talk.
That’s why we’ve created our own community for sports fans to talk as much as they want or need to. Um…now we just need some people in that community! So I’m asking as a favor that you stop on by the forum today and register (seriously only takes a few minutes). Then add your input to one of our ongoing conversations or start your own topic.
Do Your Kids Get an Allowance?
I’ve got three kids and I’ve got to tell you its entertaining watching them with their money. Whenever my kids get money for chores or birthdays they are very different in their habits. My oldest has to spend his almost immediately. My middle child needs to take her time shopping, but she is going to spend it, and my youngest is tighter than Fort Knox.
What if instead of spending their money children learned to save it and actually plan and manage their money? Too many people get involved in the parenting debate about ways to teach kids about money when they don’t have to because there are tons of resources out there including free information sites like PAYjr.

Buster Makes His Football Debut
On his second possession at quarterback he led his team to a touchdown and he made some very solid plays on defense including a solo tackle that prevented the other team from getting a first down.
They are a run oriented team so he only got to throw two passes but they were both completed for a combined 40 yards and he also ran once for about two and a half yards. In all he was very solid on defense and had no turnovers on offense. He was very nervous going into the game about getting the pitch-out to the tailback right and he ran it to perfection.
Anyway, just a proud dad bragging on his son.

AFC West Preview
Projected Finish
San Diego Chargers 13-3
Denver Broncos 9-7
Kansas City Chiefs 7-9
Oakland Raiders 4-12
Denver Broncos
Offensive Strength: Running back – The Broncos have a reputation of producing solid running backs and even allowing guys to play above their ability. So don’t expect anything to change this year in Denver’s backfield.
The addition of Travis Henry will give the Broncos power stability they didn’t have with Tatum Bell. Mike Bell will be a steady replacement but lacks Henry’s speed.
Offensive Weakness: Line – I know how ridiculous that sounds because just as Denver has a reputation for producing runners they also have a reputation for cranking out All-Pro offensive lineman.
The problem is that even though they are still a solid unit they suffered injury problems last season which limited offensive productivity. While Denver made strides to improve depth during the off-season but most of it is young and unproven.
Defensive Strength: Secondary – The tragic death of Darrent Williams was a crushing blow to the Broncos secondary. Dre’ Bly was brought in to replace Williams and while Bly gives way a little in age to the deceased Williams he doesn’t give up much in the way of talent.

What Would You Do to Get Better?
School is starting back up and so are fall sports. At middle school, high school and college campuses all across the United States football players and fall softball and soccer players are getting ready to crank up their seasons while basketball, wrestling, baseball and track are waiting their turn.
Every kid wants to be a star and every star wants to shine brighter than the season before. The problem isn’t playing your sport of choice it’s actually improving! While there are several unique techniques for improving your game none may be as unique as hypnosis.
I came across a site this week offering hypnosis downloads. I know it sounds weird but it has been proven to work. So much so that many professional athletes are now using hypnosis to overcome obstacles. NBA players use it to improve their jump shot or free throw percentage while an NFL receiver may use it to help him to stop dropping passes.
Plain and simple hypnosis works! It helps you overcome fear, focus and keep you from becoming tense but sports aren’t the only thing the Instant-Hypnosis site offers assistance for. A quick look at their site http://www.instant-hypnosis.com/ will show that hypnosis can help with anything from self improvement to developing a sixth sense. There are literally hundreds of download options at reasonable prices. If you're looking to make it to the next level athletically or just make it out of bed in the morning this site would definately be worth a visit.

Vick Pleads Guilty - NFL Headlines
The big story today in the NFL is that former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has pled guilty to to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges.
"After consulting with his family over the weekend, Michael Vick asked that I announce today that he has reached an agreement with federal prosecutors regarding the charges pending against him," lead defense attorney Billy Martin said in a statement.
"Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made. Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter."So now the question is how much time in prison?
Green Announced As Miami’s Starting QB
No one should be shocked by this but the Dolphins offense has been far from impressive this preseason.
"We're at a point where we need to start putting this offense together and the number one thing our offense needs is leadership," Dolphins’ coach Cam Cameron said. "Trent brings that, but I do believe Cleo's time is coming and he's got a lot of room for growth."

AFC South Preview
Projected Finish
Indianapolis Colts 13-3
Jacksonville Jaguars 10-6
Tennessee Titans 8-8
Houston Texans 4-12
Houston Texans
Offensive Strength: Running Back - The Texans’ rushing game should be improved over last season simply because the addition of Ahman Green means no more running back by committee. Instead this season will feature Green as the primary workhorse with Ron Dayne coming in for short yardage situations.
Offensive Weakness: Line – The Texans gave up 43 sacks last season in what was their first using the zone blocking scheme. Obviously you can’t get much worse than that but Houston might try. Left Tackle Charles Spencer still is a question mark for the season opener and the line as a whole should feature pretty much the same cast.
Defensive Strength: Linebackers – DeMeco Ryans is the best linebacker on the Texans roster and will anchor the middle for years to come. The additions of Danny Clark and Shawn Barber add additional depth to an already solid corps.
Defensive Weakness: Secondary – The Texans are making a habit of finishing near the bottom of the league in interceptions. Houston returns the same crew who only managed 11 picks all last season to the defensive backfield again this season.

Giambi Fesses Up, Selig Goes Soft
From one roided up All-Star to another Barry Bonds needs to pay attention to the Jason Giambi story. Giambi caused a lot more than just ripples in the MLB Ocean when he admitted, in a round about way, to using steroids back in June he caused a title wave.
The confession got him a date with former Sen. George Mitchell last month after Selig threatened to discipline him if he refused to cooperate. Now that he has cooperated fully and done some charity work Major League Commissioner Bud Selig said that no further disciplinary action would be necessary.

Michael Vick Looking to Make a Plea Deal
Michael Vick’s former "Bad Newz Kennels" business partners have left him out to dry and no it appears the former (that’s right I said former) Falcons quarterback is working on his own plea deal and could be facing up to two years in jail. Last month Tony Taylor flipped on Vick when he plead guilty and now Vick’s other two co-defendants have scheduled hearings to enter plea agreements.

NFL News from the Weekend
Yeah, I know that it’s Tuesday and this should have been posted on Monday but I was busy. Here are some of the top stories surrounding the NFL over the weekend.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis could be facing retirement because he can’t shake off the pain from last season’s ruptured Achilles’.
"It's a pain you can't deal with," Ellis said. "It never goes away -- even when I wake up in the morning, walking around, the whole deal."
Take a complete look at the Major NFL headlines from the weekend.

AFC North Preview
Projected Finish
Cincinnati Bengals 12-4
Pittsburgh Steelers 12-4
Baltimore Ravens 11-5
Cleveland Browns 6-10
Baltimore Ravens
Offensive Strength: Quarterback – If you remove Steve McNair from the equation then the quarterbacks have proven to be a liability. However, McNair led the team to 13 wins last season using Derrick Mason, Todd Heap and Mark Clayton to bring the Raven back to life.
Offensive Weakness: Line – The Ravens’ offensive line has struggled with injuries in past seasons and are also advancing in age. They only have one backup with proven experience (Chris Chester) so an injury or two along the line could slow down the offense.
Defensive Strength: Linebackers – Terrell Suggs and Bart Scott are dangerous pass rushers who also have the athleticism to drop back in coverage and Ray Lewis continues to be one of the league’s premier linebackers with his sideline to sideline speed.
Defensive Weakness: Secondary – Samari Rolle gave up way too many big plays last season and some of that was due in part to free safety Ed Reed leaving him out to dry while taking gambles instead of providing over-the-top help. Both guys are extremely athletic but communication has to improve.

AFC East Preview
Projected Finish
New England 12-4
New York Jets 10-6
Miami Dolphins 9-7
Buffalo Bills 6-10
Buffalo Bills
Offensive Strength: Receivers – Lee Evans is the best deep threat weapons in the league. Last year he was one of only two receivers (Chad Johnson) to catch three touchdowns of 50 yards or more.
Peerless Price, Rosco Parrish and Josh Reed all are capable threats, especially with Lee drawing double teams.
Offensive Weakness: Quarterback – Last season when the Bills faced a third down of 3 yards or less JP Losman was 5 of 24. He has a tendency to lock in on receivers which leads to turnovers.
Defensive Strength: Line – Aaron Schobel emerged as one of the leagues top defensive ends last season recording 14 sacks and earning a trip to the Pro-Bowl.
Defensive Weakness: Linebacker - Losing Takeo Spikes and London Fletcher greatly diminished Buffalo’s linebacking corps. The team now must place their hopes in second-round draft pick Paul Posluszny.

AllState 400 : Famous Quotable Quotes, Tidbits and everythin else
The Allstate 400 race last weekend was like few others. There was a lot of drama, a lot of things said, and a lot of reaction to those things. Which is great for us, cos that gives me things to write about.
First, the Quotes:
“This one is for everyone in the stands who pull for me and have to take the bull(expletive) from everyone else.” Tony Stewart
“It’s a little late to be concerned about it now, isn’t it?” he asked. “Whatever happens, they can’t take this (trophy) away from me today.” Stewart, when asked about his post-race expletive
“Here, kitty, kitty, kitty. Come get you some of this.” Tony Stewart while he was chasing Kevin Harvick
“Heh heh. That was FUN.” Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (finished 34th) on his radio after an aggressive pass on Tony Stewart on lap 20
“I can tell you what Kasey (Kahne) said to me. I went by him so fast on the outside that it got him loose and made him mad. So he said ‘I figured if I was going, I’d take you with me.’ That’s what he said to me. I guess he’s having a bad day.” Tony Raines (finished 41st) after a lap 39 accident with Kasey Kahne
