Cutler Shows Why Broncos Dealt Him/Urlacher Done For Season

A bad situation got even worse for the Chicago Bears on Sunday night when Brian Urlacher went down with an injured wrist. With a chance to take home a victory over division rival Green Bay Chicago’s new All-Pro quarterback couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start. Cutler completed 17 of his 36 pass attempts with a ratio of 4 interceptions to 1 touchdown. He mounted a comeback in the second half and put the Bears in front 15-13 but the Chicago defense gave up a 50 touchdown pass from Aaron Rogers to Greg Jennings. Trying to rally his team again for one last scoring drive Cutler tossed his fourth interception on the night. You could make the argument that ultimately it was the Chicago defense that faltered and cost Chicago the game but then again Cutler giving the ball away four times sure didn’t help matters.

Speaking of the Chicago defense, they lost more than just a game Sunday night. Linebacker Brian Urlacher dislocated his right wrist on a play in which he hit Green Bay quarterback Aaron

Rogers. Urlacher underwent surgery on Monday and was placed on injured reserve meaning that he’s done for the season. Now the Bears are looking at going into the final 15 games of the season without Urlacher once again and they’ve got a gun slinger of a quarterback who at least for now has shown that he likes to gamble on the field and can’t pay his debts.

Brett Favre Looking For Revenge Against Green Bay

As sure as you can bank on the Oakland Raiders making a mockery of the NFL draft you can also count on the Brett Favre talk dominating the NFL airwaves once again in the weeks following the NFL draft. It’s something that we should be used to by now and yet the majority of the sporting world is scratching their heads and questioning why?

Favre was able to bring life back to the New York Jets but not able to get them into the playoffs and ultimately ended up costing Head Coach Eric Mangini his job. Now Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress appears to be the next person to bear that burden. After retiring, again, Favre requested – and was granted – a release from New York and is flirting now with Minnesota.

Brett Favre has enjoyed a hall of fame career but his skills have diminished to the point where a comeback seems improbable. Is it his love for the game that keeps wooing him back? Nope! Perhaps it’s his love of the limelight? Not even close! Turns out Favre’s motivation is hatred. Hatred for a team that was once endeared to him.

According to a New York Daily News source Favre wants to play in the NFC North again so that he can stick it to the Pack.

"Favre can't stand Green Bay," the source said. "He wants to play Green Bay and say, 'I told you so.' His bitterness is creating this. I think he's calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven't heard the end of Favre. No way. He is bionic. As long as somebody will let him in, he will play."

Oh the drama!

Free Agent Casualties

The NFL Free Agency period has officially begun and several veterans were shown the door as teams are making salary cap room. Among the notable names released were Ravens RB Jamal Lewis, Vikings QB Brad Johnson, Saints WR Joe Horn and Cowboys QB Drew Bledsoe and Steelers LB Joey Porter.

As far as who and going where and what teams are looking for here’s the latest NFL rumors.

The Miami Dolphins are looking to add an outside linebacker and possibly pick up yet another veteran quarterback. Among the players the Dolphins would consider are the New England Patriots' Tully Banta-Cain, Cato June of the Indianapolis Colts and Carlos Polk of the San Diego Chargers.

The quarterback the Dolphins are interested in is Kansas City’s Trent Green who is rumored to be on the trading block. Miami will part ways with Joey Harrington and with Culpepper’s health still a big question mark Green could walk into the starting QB spot in Miami with little or no competition.

The hatred between Randy Moss and the Green Bay Packers could be subdued because the Packers are very interested in acquiring Moss from the Oakland Raiders.

The New York Giants are definitely going to be in the market for Bills cornerback Nate Clements.

The Detroit Lions picked up a new running back on Thursday when they traded cornerback Dre’ Bly to the Denver Broncos for Tatum Bell. Now offensive coordinator Mike Martz may go after one of his former receivers in St. Louis, Kevin Curtis.

Here We Go Again

Last off season we had to sit through the Brett Favre drama as he decided whether to come back for another season or retire. It seems like we are back at it once again! After initially saying that a decision would come within weeks of the end of the season now the future Hall-of-Famer is saying that he may have jumped the gun with that announcement.

Favre indicated in an interview last week that when it comes to retirement he is still very much up in the air. "I don't know if I'll ever know for sure (whether it's time to retire)," Favre said Tuesday. "I've been off three weeks now, and I'm just trying to get as far away from it as I can."

"I don't really (have a timetable)," Favre said. "I probably jumped the gun a little when I said that."

Admittedly he doesn’t want to drag it out as long as last year but it will still drag out. Free Agency begins March 2 so don’t expect a decision until sometime around then.
