Tony Romo Costs Me First Place in the Play-Offs Picks Contest

I would like to thank Tony Romo for costing me a perfect first round and first place in the standings. Your dropped snap on the field goal attempt was unacceptable! Of course I couldn’t do any better but I’m not the one suiting up, you are! Honorable mention goes to Terry Glenn for the horrible job he did in protecting the ball resulting in a fumble at the worst possible moment on the worst possible place on the field.

Dallas had that game wrapped up and yet they found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Blogging the NFL – Wild Card Weekend

I already chimed in on Nick Saban leaving the Miami Dolphins for the head coaching job at Alabama but let me just add this. He got a sweet deal! Eight years with a guaranteed $30 million dollars. You won’t find that anywhere in the NFL.

Vince Young runs away with AP Offensive Rookie of the Year

It wasn’t even close! Young collected 23 of 50 possible first place votes from a panel of NFL writers and broadcasters. This is where I get to admit that I was wrong. I didn’t see any way Vince Young was going to be able to do the same things in the NFL that he did in college. See there, I was wrong.

And the List Goes On

It seems like everyone wants to coach the Arizona Cardinals. The short list is a who’s who of NFL coordinators and assistants. Tennessee offensive coordinator Norm Chow, Houston assistant head coach Mike Sherman, Chicago defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, Indianapolis assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell, Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and Steelers assistant head coach/offensive line coach Russ Grimm are all speculated to be candidates.

Is there anyone left for the Atlanta and Miami jobs?

One guy who isn’t going anywhere is Tony Dungy who was rumored to be the leading candidate for the head coaching job at the University of Minnesota. Talk about comparing apples to oranges. No man in his right mind would walk away from the Colts to take over the Gophers. Who do they think he is, Nick Saban?

Motives in Williams’ Murder

There are several rumors surrounding the tragic murder of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams who was shot to death after leaving a Denver night Monday morning. The shooting could have been the result of trash talking over the team's season-ending defeat, an attempt to steal Williams' jewelry or the flashing of gang signs, according to witnesses, family members and team sources.

At least 14 bullets were fired into the side of the stretch Hummer carrying Williams and others, including WR Javon Walker.

NFL Play-Offs Picks Contest

That’s right boys and girls it’s time for another contest. This time it’s the in NFL with the play-offs.

What are we playing for? A $25.00 gift card from Red Lobster, Olive Garden or Chili’s. If you win you pick!

Here’s how it works. You have to sign-up through the forum by simply posting your picks in the NFL Play-Offs Contest thread. You will receive 10 points for each correct pick in the “Wild Card” round this weekend, 20 points for correct points in the “divisional play-off” round next weekend, 30 points for correctly picking the conference championship winner and 40 points for picking the correct Super Bowl winner.

Picks will need to be made each week of the play-offs and must be submitted by kick-off of the first game of each round. No Exceptions!

In addition to the points from your weekly picks there are also two Wild Card picks. First, you must state who you believe the Super Bowl winner will be when you make your first round picks. You will receive an additional 10 points each week if your Super Bowl winner survives that round up to and after the Super Bowl.

Secondly the NFL teams are seeded 1-6 in each conference. You get to pick one team as your sleeper and will receive points equal to their seed for each week they advance to the next round. For example, the New York Jets are the No. 5 seed in the AFC. If they were your sleeper pick then you would receive an additional 5 points for each week they advanced in the play-offs.
