Move Over Football and Basketball, Badminton is Here

The doubles competition at the International Badminton Federation World Championships were won by Tony Gunawan and Howard Bach of the United States. The duo entered the tournament with the 13th seed and became the first American team to win a badminton medal in an Olympic or world championship.

USA Badminton executive director Dan Cloppas reacted by saying, “Now children are going to start looking at the sport differently and say, ‘Maybe I don’t want to go into basketball or football. I want to be like Tony and Howard.’”

I’m sorry Tony and who? Perhaps he over reacted just a smidgen.
